Incumbent Senator Francis “Chiz” Escudero publicly endorsed the presidential bid of Aquino while another incumbent, Panfilo “Ping” Lacson, was also reportedly backing Aquino.
Escudero and Lacson were with Aquino in the Senate majority bloc but the two are not members of the LP.
Villar’s group, however, was seen to be getting more support with the impending victory of senatorial candidate Ferdinand “Bong-Bong” Marcos and the re-election of Senators Miriam Defensor-Santiago and Pia Cayetano, a member of the NP.
